BME student selected to attend the McDonald’s Conference for Leaders of Character

Koen Flores

Congratulations to BME undergraduate student, Koen Flores, who was selected to attend the McDonald’s Conference for Leaders of Character that will be held March 18-22, 2020, at the West Point Military Academy.

Flores is a third-year undergraduate researcher for Dr. Jennifer Nichols’ Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Lab specializing in computational biomechanics. His previous research focused on utilizing neural networks to predict Rectus femoris strength to inform sensor unit reduction. However, now, Flores is applying image processing techniques to improve the consistency and accuracy of ankle surgeries.

The mission of the McDonald Conference for Leaders of Character is to bring together a diverse group of the top undergraduate student leaders from across the globe with world-class senior leaders who act as mentors in a team-based, experiential event that bolsters leadership skills, fosters critical thinking and collaboration and develops potential strategies for addressing pressing global issues.

Congratulations, Koen!
