BME student selected as 2023 Outstanding Undergraduate International Student Award

Congratulations to Kiara Xhindi for being selected as a University of Florida 2023 Outstanding Undergraduate International Student Award honoree from the UF International Center. She was nominated by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and stood for her dedication, hard work, and contributions to the University of Florida.

This award recognizes undergraduate international students who have distinguished themselves by excelling in their studies while advancing a global citizenship mindset and contributing to the international profile of the UF community.

Kiara’s research is focused on graph theory based parcellation, where she analyses how different algorithms can divide brain networks into specific regions. Identifying community assignments can provide insights into the underlying mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases.

In addition to working in the Nino Research Group for 3 years on UF campus, she has completed 4 industry internships at Hangtech, Medtronic, Exactech, and Tesla. Kiara has served as a Teaching Assistant for the HWCOE Engineering Design and Society course (freshman design) and a BME Learning Assistant for the BME core course Computer Applications for BME.
