Bio:
Lourdes M. De Cárdenas Alfonso, Ph.D., is Vice-President of Manufacturing, Americas South Region, Stryker Global Supply, responsible for 4 Stryker manufacturing facilities with close to 3,000 associates (including a Lakeland, Florida facility with around 80 associates). Lourdes has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors in R&D, Technical, Operations and QA/RA areas, and her career in the last 15 years has focused on organizational transformation and increased competitiveness. Previous to her current role, she has managed and turned-around manufacturing facilities for Stryker and Eli Lilly, and held regional functions in Patheon (Vice-President of QA/RA, Bristol-Myers Squibb (Regional Director of Technical Services), and Astra-Zeneca (Manager of RA and Quality Systems), among others. She holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras and a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from Purdue University. Lourdes currently serves as Vice-President of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers’ Association (PRMA) and is on the Board of Directors of the PR Institute of Competitiveness and a Sustainable Economy (ICSE).
