For the fifth year in a row, the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering has risen in the U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings.
UF BME placed 15th among public school institutions in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate School Rankings, climbing seven spots from 22nd in 2015. This new ranking continues the upward trend for the department which has climbed 18 spots in the past four years.
“Our goal is to provide the best education possible for our students, who are poised to become the next generation of engineers. This ranking is a testament to our accomplished faculty, incredible students and dedicated staff that provide extraordinary and visionary leadership,” said Dr. Christine E. Schmidt, Pruitt Family Professor and Chair.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Dr. Carlos Rinaldi, senior associate chair of the department, who cited faculty success in publishing, external funding for research, a broader-based research model and six new faculty hires since 2013 in attributing to the increase in rankings.
