Madison bestowed Attribute of a Gator Engineer

Each year, the University of Florida Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering awards graduate and undergraduate students who exemplify the qualities expected of a Gator Engineer. These qualities include: Creativity, Leadership, Service to the Global Community, Integrity, and Professional Excellence. The Attributes of a Gator Engineer awards are some of the most prestigious awards given through the College.

In 2021, Madison Temples was awarded the Attributes of a Gator Engineering for Professional Excellence. This award recognizes a graduate student who strongly models technical competency, management skills including planning and problem solving, as well as deep scientific insight. In support of Madison’s award, Dr. Sharma shared: “Madison has consistently risen to every challenge she has encountered in her research, which is a testament to her tenacity and problem solving. As a result, she has become technically proficient in a tremendous breadth of research skills. I am deeply appreciative of Madison’s leadership and professionalism within our lab and department, and happy to see her contributions recognized by the HWCOE Attributes of a Gator Award.”

Madison is finishing the fifth year of her PhD in the Sharma lab and has led the efforts related to cancer cell migration within the lab for the last several years. In addition to her research efforts she also mentors incoming graduate students who will be following her footsteps and puts forth significant effort to prepare undergraduate students to pursue graduate degrees in the future.
