Solar Eclipse in Gainesville

Students, researchers, faculty, and staff take a break to observe the solar eclipse today! People gathered in the health sciences courtyard to watch this rare event, try out home-made viewing tools, and take photos.

Lab equipment (discarded ThermoFisher box, foil, tape) was converted to make pinhole cameras to view the eclipse. Thanks for the camera instructions, NASA.

The partial (89%) eclipse was visible over the Biomedical Engineering Sciences Building.

Dedicated participants tried out a variety of home-made eclipse viewing tools.
