Biographical Sketch

Dr. Nichols joined the University of Florida in December 2017.  She is a recipient of the 2011 Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Services Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the 2016 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) with funding from the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). Other awards include a 2012 Sarah Baskin Award for Excellence in Research from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and a 2016 Leadership in Inclusive Excellence Award from University of Utah Health Sciences. Dr. Nichols’ research interests include include biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling, complex joint systems such as the foot/ankle and wrist/hand, predictive surgical simulations, medical imaging, and research ethics. She is also active in outreach to promote STEM education for women and minorities.
