Dedication of the Biomedical Sciences Building; Roderic I. Pettigrew, NIBIB Director, to speak

Plans are underway for the Dedication of the Biomedical Sciences Building on May 11th. The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering would like to extend an invitation for you to attend, as we are excited about the event and the opportunity to showcase the our new home. This should be a great event, with two superb guest speakers:  Dr. Roderic I. Pettigrew, Director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, and Francine R. Kaufman, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medtronic Diabetes.

This building is the culmination of tremendous efforts by many individuals in many disciplines at the University of Florida and throughout the state. It’s public opening is a milestone event for the department, effectively consolidating the tremendous progress we have made to date and putting us on course for greater research success and the creation of our undergraduate program.

The Biomedical Sciences Building is also home to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory, the Diabetes Center for Excellence, the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, and researchers from the Department of Physical Therapy.

We look forward to hosting you at this momentous occasion.  Following the ceremony we will have a reception for Friends of the BME Department.
