BME Ph.D. student receives 2018 Emerging Scholar Award

Congratulations to Maggie Fettis, BME Ph.D. student, who was recently awarded the Association for Academic Women’s (AAW) 2018 Emerging Scholar Award. This award was made possible by the generous support of UF President, Dr. W. Kent Fuchs.

Fettis’ research focuses on optimizing protein therapies for applications in immunomodulation. Specifically, her work focuses on engineering the delivery of proteins that interact with carbohydrates to modulate local sites of harmful inflammation.

The AAW connects professional women throughout the University of Florida community to enable personal growth, relationship building, career development and lifelong learning. The organization provides valuable networking and mentoring opportunities through special programs, social events and month network luncheons.
