BME student, Olga Gopan, invited to the 2013 Young Investigator's Award Symposium

Congratulations to BME Ph.D. student, Olga Gopan, who has been invited to the 2013 Young Investigator's Award Symposium of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Annual Meeting this August in Indianapolis, Indiana!

Her presentation is entitled, "Molecular breast imaging using emission tomosynthesis". This work is focused on developing a better method for breast cancer diagnosis using molecular imaging methods.  It involves the design and evaluation of a novel gamma camera for 3D imaging of the breast (see photo below).  Collaborators on this project include Dilon Technologies, Inc., leading manufacturers of breast-specific gamma imaging devices, and Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, a Department of Energy national laboratory.
