Two BME students receive Outstanding International Student Awards

Congratulations to BME Ph.D. students, Immanuel Babu Henry Samuel and Shruti Siva Kumar, for being named Outstanding International Students by the UF International Center at the 22nd Annual International Award Ceremony on November 15, 2016.

Immanuel B.H. Samuel’s research interests are in the field of cognitive neuroscience. He uses mathematical frameworks to study the brain by analyzing EEG, fMRI, T1, FLAIR, DTI, EcoG, Spike train, Eye-tracking, physical activity and questionnaire data. Immanuel’s’ advisor is Dr. Mingzhou Ding

Shruti Siva Kumar's research interests are in the fields of medical imaging and computational modeling in oncology. She uses mathematical models to study photon and proton radiation therapy effects on the heart and lungs in breast cancer patients. Shruti's advisor is Dr. Walter O'Dell.

The Outstanding International Student Awards Ceremony was initiated to highlight the accomplishments of international students at the University of Florida. The awards are designed to recognize students who meet exemplary academic achievements and a wide range of accomplishments and contributions.
