About

Lin Yang is an Associate Professor with the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at University of Florida. He is also an official affiliated Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) at University of Florida. He leads the Biomedical Image Computing and Imaging Informatics (BICI2) Lab. He was recruited to University of Florida in 2014 as one of the first round preeminence hirings (36 faculty members) through UF Preeminence Hiring Plan.

He received his B. E. and M. S. from Xian Jiaotong University in 1999 and 2002, and his Ph. D. in Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in 2009 (http://www.ece.rutgers.edu/Alumni_in_Academia). He did part of his research in Siemens Corporate Research at Princeton, NJ and IBM T. J. Watson Research Center at Yorktown Heights, NY. He was an assistant professor in Rutgers University from 2009-2011 and an assistant professor in Univesity of Kentucky from 2011-2014.

His major research interests are focus on biomedical image analysis and imaging informatics, computer vision, biomedical informatics, and machine learning. He is also working on high performance computing and computed aided health care and information technology using big data. His lab's research is funded by multiple federal funding, including NIH R01. He also serves in NIH study sections and NSF review panels.

He is the co-author of the award winning papers for 2008 ISBI NIH Young Investigator Best Paper and Travel Award, 2014 NANETS Young Investigator Paper and Travel Award, 2015 Young Scientist Best Paper Award Runner-up, and 2015 MICCAI Young Scientist Best Paper Award.

    3. 08/11/2016: One paper from BICI2 was accepted into the 2016 European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV). ECCV is one of the three premium double-blind reviewed conferences (ECCV,ICCV,CVPR) in computer vision and pattern recognition.
    4. 06/03/2016: Three papers from BICI2 were accepted into the 2016 International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Aided Intervention (MICCAI). One paper was early accepted. MICCAI is one of the premium conferences in biomedical image computing. MICCAI proceedings papers are full-length papers that have been subjected to double-blind peer review that is more stringent than many journals. This is reflected in the low acceptance and high citation rate of MICCAI Proceedings papers.
    5. 06/03/2016: One paper from BICI2 was accepted into IEEE Transaction on Medical Imaging (TMI).
    6. 03/02/2016: One paper from BICI2 was accepted into the 2016 International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR). CVPR is the premium double-blind reviewed conference in computer vision and pattern recognition.

This year's HPC-MICCAI conference proceeding will be published as a special issue of the journal (BMC Medical Imaging) focused on presenting emerging methods in biomedical image analysis using high performance computing and big data technologies.
